This is a picture of one of many icebergs that we saw on our boat ride up Tracy Arm to get up close and personal with South Sawyer glacier. We had a fun time of the boat. It was raining and very cold that day but we loved it. We were able to see some whales as we were out. It was a very fun ride.

There are lots of waterfalls. Because the mountains are so rugged the water makes it's way down any crevasse that it can. There are waterfalls almost everywhere you look. Some are big and others are just little ones making their way down. All were very beautiful to look at.

We are working our way through all these icebergs to get close to the glacier. It was very interesting to watch the captain maneuver his way through the icebergs. Even though it was very cold, I sat on the front of the boat (outside) and watched him work his way around the icebergs. It was fun!

Up close look at South Sawyer Glacier. He was able to get us close to the glacier. When the captain first started he wasn't sure that we would make it. He wasn't able to get there the day before. Because the glacier is constantly calving the river you go up is ever changing. We were able to just sit there for about 2 1/2 hours watching the glacier calf. It was an amazing sight to watch. I didn't realize how noisy they were. They sound like thunder. There is movement going on all the time. Some you can watch fall off and others you can just hear. The captain was waiting for one section of the glacier that he thought would come off that would be spectacular but it didn't. He was sure that by the time we got back to Juneau it had fallen off. That would have been nice to see but what we saw was good enough for me since I hadn't seen anything like that before. It is unbelievable!!

Another picture of the many icebergs we say. This one was very interesting though.
Must go pick up the boys from Young Mens. More to come at a later date
